Richard Colbaugh received a Ph.D. in Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University in 1986 and is presently Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Professor of Management at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. His teaching and research activities have focused on modeling, analysis, and control of dynamical systems of importance in nature and society. A recent emphasis of this work involves the study of complex networks, including those networks of relevance to national security, socioeconomic systems, advanced technologies, and systems biology. Dr. Colbaugh has just completed an assignment with the U.S. Department of Defense during which he advised senior leadership on counterterrorism and counterproliferation efforts.
