Joaquim Carvalho teaches computer-related courses at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra. His main research interests are computer tools for historical analysis, particularly nominal record linking and person-oriented databases. Recently he has investigated the impact of Complex Adaptive System theories in general and Agent Based models in particular on historical causal reasoning.
