The markers show the locations of the 180 readers who accessed the journal yesterday. The locations are obtained from readers' IP addresses and are generally accurate only to the nearest town or city.
Hovering the mouse over a marker shows its location. The number after the location reports the number of IP addresses viewing the journal at that location. Some IP addresses are only located to a country and not more precisely; the markers for these are placed in the middle of the country.
Clicking on a marker zooms in for a closer view.
