Rafael H. Bordini

Rafael Heitor Bordini is a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Durham. His research interests are centred mainly on agent-oriented programming languages, verification of multi-agent systems by model checking, and applications of multi-agent systems to social simulation. He was a Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool, from 2002 to 2004, and before that he was an invited lecturer at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, from 1999. He has a B.Sc. in Computer Science (1991), an MSc in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 1994, and received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of London (University College London) in 1999.

Antônio Carlos da Rocha Costa

Antônio Carlos da Rocha Costa has a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering (1977), an M.Sc. in Computer Science (1980), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (1993). He was associate professor at II/UFRGS from 1980 to 1996, and associate professor at FACIN/PUCRS from 1996 to 1998. He has been associate professor at ESIN/UCPel since 1998, and Ph.D. thesis supervisor at PPGC/UFRGS and PGIE/UFRGS since 1994. He was co-founder and first chairman of the Special Interest Group in Artificial Intelligence of the Brazilian Computer Society in 1984. His research interests include: foundations of AI; systems of values in multi-agent systems; computational interpretations of Freud's model of the psychic apparatus; theories of interactive and developmental computation; and non-standard models for quantum computation.

Jomi F. Hübner

Jomi Fred Hübner is a lecturer at the University of Blumenau, Brazil, where he teaches courses on Artificial Intelligence and Programming since 1996. He obtained his PhD from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2003. The subject of his thesis was the modelling of multi-agent organisations and the process of reorganisation in multi-agent systems. His research interests are on models of organisation in multi-agent systems and tools to support the development of BDI-based multi-agent systems.

Álvaro F. Moreira

Álvaro F. Moreira did his Ph.D. at the Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science (LFCS) at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, working on type-based analysis of programming languages. Since August, 2002, he is a lecturer at the Department of Theoretical Informatics at the Institute of Informatics of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil. He is a member of the Foundations of Computing Research Group. He is also a researcher and co-advisor in the Graduate Program in Computer Science at UFRGS. His research interests are on operational semantics and type systems for agent oriented programming languages, database languages and on type-based analysis.

Fabio Y. Okuyama

Fabio Yoshimitsu Okuyama is a PhD student at UFRGS. He received an MSc degree in Computer Science in 2003.The subject of his MSc thesis was the description and simulation of environments for multi-agent simulations. His research interests includes Artificial Intelligence, and Multi-Agent Systems theories and applications.

Renata Vieira

Renata Vieira received a PhD in Cognitive Science from the University of Edinburgh in 1998. Since then she has been working at the Post-Graduate Programme in Applied Computing, Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos, Brazil. Her research interests are mainly related to natural language processing, intelligent agents, and Semantic-Web technologies.
