Nils B. Weidmann

Nils B. Weidmann received his Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Freiburg (Germany) in 2003. He joined the International Conflict Research Group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in 2004 as a PhD student. His research interests include computer modeling of civil wars, in particular using spatially explicit data.

Luc Girardin

He began his journey at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva and later joined the UBS AG (Ubilab), where he focused on information analysis and management issues, while also creating novel approaches that support intuitive and interactive ways of thinking. Subsequently, he co-founded Macrofocus, a start-up company that designs interactive visualization tools for knowledge workers that help them make well-informed and efficient decisions. Luc is currently lead architect at Macrofocus and researcher on complex adaptive systems at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). He holds a master's degree in computer science and telecommunication.
