Pierre Bommel

Dr Pierre Bommel is a modelling scientist from CIRAD. As member of the Green Research Unit, he contributes to promote the Companion Modelling approach (http://www.commod.org). Through the development of CORMAS, a Framework for multi-agent models (http://cormas.cirad.fr), he has been focusing on the development and the use of Multi-Agent Systems for the simulation of renewable resource management issues. Since 2005, he is based at the PUC University of Rio de Janeiro, developing models dealing with environmental management, such as breeding adaptation to drought in the Uruguay or as breeding and deforestation in the Amazon.

Francisco Dieguez

Francisco DIEGUEZ CAMERONI is an agronomist graduated at the Facultad de Agronomía of the Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay (1998). He did his Master and PhD at the Université de Liege, Belgium (2001 & 2008). He is a researcher at the Agencia Nacional de Investigación e Innovación (ANII; National Agence of Research & Innovation: http://www.anii.org.uy/buscador_cvuy/exportador/ExportarPdf?hash=5662054e397ca425ae1c13b94a6f7578). At present, he Works at the Instituto Plan Agropecuario (Uruguay) as development technician and teacher in several e-learning courses. His work areas are the study of family-farm systems (work organisation and purposes of functionning)and the design of simulation models.

Danilo Bartaburu

Danilo Bartaburu is an Agronomist, graduated at the Faculty of Agronomía of the Universidad de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay in 1982. Since this date, he has been working in pastoral production system in various institutions with focus in education (until 1995) and extension service. He has participated in many projects, whose main topic was the adaptation to climate change of the farmers. Nowadays, he works at the Plan Agropecuario Institute (Uruguay) where he currently is Regional Director in Salto.

Emilio Duarte

Emilio Duarte is an agricultural engineer who graduated at the Facultad de Agronomía de la Universidad de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay (1997). He has been working in agricultural systems since 1996. Between 1996 and 2006 as consultant in milk production, rice production, and irrigation. Since 2007, he works at the Plan Agropecuario (Uruguay). His main working area is extension and training for pastoral producer. Currently is completing a master's degree in Soil and Water.

Esteban Montes

Esteban Montes is an Agronomist, graduated at the Facultad de Agronomía of the Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay (1989). He worked with groups of farmers in livestock and agricultural for nine years in Young, Río Negro (1990 - 1999). From 1999 up to now, he has been working at the Instituto Plan Agropecuario (Uruguay) as development and agronomist engineer.

Marcelo Pereira Machín

Marcelo Pereira is Agronomist from the Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay (1990), and graduated on Rangeland Management at the Universidad of Buenos Aires (2008). He is the head of the Native Rangelands Program of the Instituto Plan Agropecuario (IPA), an institution devoted to rural extension in the livestock production area. He is responsible of the project "Remote Sensing monitoring of primary production in Uruguayan ranches"

Jorge Corral

Jorge Corral is a Computer Engineer (2004) and Master of Science (2011, Facultad de Ingeniería, Montevideo, Uruguay), with nearly 15 years of experience working in the academy and the software industry, mainly in Uruguay but with occasional appointments in France and The Netherlands. Current positions: Pre-sales Engineer & Consultant at Arkano Software; Assistant Professor at Faculty of Engineering, External Relations Manager at INCO-Fing, and Teaching Coordinator at BIOS.

Carlos José Pereira de Lucena

Professor Carlos Lucena has a degree in Mathematical Economics from the PUC University of Rio de Janeiro (1965), MA in Department Of Computer Science & Applied Analysis, University of Waterloo (1969), and a PhD in Computer Science from in School Of Engineering And Applied Sciences of the University Of California At Los Angeles (UCLA) (1974) and postdoctoral at IBM Research (1975). Currently he is professor at the PUC University of Rio de Janeiro. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Waterloo (Canada) and research associate at the Fraunhofer Institute FIRST in Berlin. He has experience in Computer Science, with an emphasis on Formal Methods, Software Engineering and Multiagent Systems. He was awarded from the Order of Scientific Merit of the Presidency of Brazil, with the Medal of Merit Carlos Chagas Filho. He received the Álvaro Alberto Prize for Science and Technology Ministry Science and Technology and several awards from IBM Innovation Award, among many others. He is a fellow of the Guggenheim Foundation, Fellow of TWAS (Academy of Sciences for the Developing World) and member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. In 2009 he received the ACM Distinguished Scientist Award. Since 2010, he is president of the National Institute of the Web of Sciences (INCT).

Hermes Morales Grosskopf

Dr. Hermes Morales has been working in pastoral production systems since 1981. In 1994 and 1995, he studied the development of livestock production systems in France (INRA) and since 1996 he has been working in the Plan Agropecuario (Uruguay), where he currently is National Director in Institutional Relationships. He has participated in many international projects funded by the Inter American Institute of Global Change (IAI), the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INIA), the French National Research Agency (ANR) and other institutions.
